Grandparents and Special Persons Day: A Day to Remember

There’s something special about sharing a school day with the people who have loved, encouraged, and supported you along the way. On September 18, St. John Lutheran School welcomed grandparents and special persons for a wonderful day of faith, fellowship, fun, and plenty of smiles!

The day began where all good days at St. John begin—with Christ at the center. Students and their special guests gathered together for chapel worship, giving thanks to God for the gift of family and the many people He places in our lives to encourage and care for us. Chapel offering was gathered to support Lakeview Ministries. 

After chapel, the fun continued! Students and their guests had the opportunity to sing and dance along to camp songs, courtesy of St. John alumna and Camp Lakeview Program Director Hannah Mielke. There were games to play, crafts to create, and even a few friendly rounds of bingo. The annual book fair was a big success, putting books in the hands of our students and benefitting our school classrooms and library as well. Of course, no special event at school would be complete without snacks to enjoy along the way! 

More than anything, the day was about spending time together. Grandparents and special persons got a glimpse into the daily life of our students while our students had the joy of sharing a piece of their school experience with someone special. That includes several grandparents who attended St. John Lutheran School themselves!

At St. John, we believe that education is about more than academics. It is about cultivating a Christ-centered community where generations can learn, worship, serve, and grow together. Days like Grandparents and Special Persons Day are a beautiful reminder of the many ways our students grow in faith, learn with purpose, and SOAR together!
