July 18 News and Notes

Want to take the next step?

Everyone who receives Communion at St. John has gone through Catechesis, a deep dive into the Faith, which God teaches us through Holy Scripture. We have Catechesis available for YOU, if you would like to join us in the Lord's Supper, or if you just want to get in on some amazing discussions! We are meeting at 5:30 on Tuesday evenings in the Commons. Bring any questions to Pastor Duling

Welcome Back To Church and School

On Sunday, August 3, we will have one, special combined service at 9:00am followed by a reception and time of fellowship to welcome everyone back from summer travels and kick of the new school year, which begins August 6. Whether you have been gone for the summer or longer, we welcome you back to make a joyful noise and celebrate worship and fellowship with your St. John community. Please join us, and bring a friend!

Immediate Need

Little Wings Childcare is in need of temporary staffing help due to a staff member medical leave. We are seeking someone to assist in the infant room, offering flexibility 1-3 days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for a duration of about 6-8 months, Pay is based on experience. If you are able, or you know someone seeking part-time employment, learn more about this rewarding opportunity by contacting Lori Forgey, 317-352-9196 ext 34.

Catechesis

Youth catechesis toward Confirmation will begin August 10. An email with full details was sent to parents of eligible youth. If you did not receive this email and believe you should have, please contact Pastor Duling. Youth Confirmation is a two year program and generally open to students in 5th-8th grades.

Students in grades 5-12 are invited to study the Sunday lessons and our life in Christ in the teacher workroom.

LWML Event

Zion Lutheran Church LWML (New Palestine) has invited the women of St. John to attend their meeting on Thursday evening, July 24, at 6:30 pm. Come for dessert, hear about the LWML Convention in Omaha and enjoy an evening with friends. To carpool, call or text Jayne Queck .

St. John Garden Club

There is a small but dedicated group of St. John members who enjoy tending to the landscaping around the church and school to keep it looking great. They are looking for a few more people who would be willing to help. The commitment could be minimal, at your own pace, and it could even be done as you’re leaving church or other activities at St. John. If you are interested, please contact Michael Collins. Your help is greatly appreciated!
