June 26 News and Notes
Stars, Stripes, and Sweets!
Join us after service on July 4 and between worship services on Sunday, July 5 for a patriotic-themed Dessert Potluck! Bring your favorite red, white, and blue treats (or any dessert you love) and enjoy a sweet time of fellowship with your church family as we celebrate together. Whether you bring a dessert or simply bring yourself, we look forward to sharing good food, the blessings of Christian community, and God’s blessings on our country for 250 years!
Please Note
There will be no Education Hour Sunday, July 5th. The “Current Events and the Scriptures” Sunday morning Bible study class will be on hiatus through the month of July.
The church and school office will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day.
Don’t Forget
Please pick up your name tag before entering services each week. They are easy to find and it only takes a few seconds. With your name tag on, it’s much easier for new and established members to greet each other and get to know us better.

Summer Seminar
Does God exist? Does the natural world bear verifiable evidence of a Creator like the one described in the Judeo-Christian Scriptures? Is it possible to engage questions like these, not based on religious doctrine but on developments in 20th-century science? Join us for a 4-week class beginning July 8, 6:00–7:30 pm, in the Commons (enter door C8). We will watch the 2026 documentary The Story of Everything: The Science that Reveals a Mind Behind the Universe in four segments with discussion time to follow each segment. Click here to watch the trailer. For more information, contact Terrell Clemmons
LCMS U
On behalf of the Indiana District LCMS, we are gathering information about college-bound students in our congregation to connect them with the LCMS ministry near their schools. Our goal is to connect all of our students with the Word of Christ and with communities of other Lutherans. If you know of a student bound for college anywhere in the U.S., please click this link to fill out the information form:
You can also email Matthew Frick with the name of the student and what University they will be attending in the fall. We will share their information with the nearest LCMS ministry. These connections can be a blessing to students as they navigate college life and its challenges.
Adult Education
Adult Education meets Thursdays at 7pm. This is specifically offered for those who want to become communicant members of St. John, however, it is open to all. If you would like to join, please contact Pastor Duling.
If you have an interest in sharing your time by leading a class starting in the fall, please contact Matthew Frick.
Young Adult Summit
Registration is now open! This will be a free, day-long event at which young adults will join in worship and fellowship with other Lutherans from around Indiana. This is a great opportunity to connect and celebrate the wonderful community that is the Lutheran church. Further event description can be found on our registration form.
Lutheran Summer Music - July 12-15
Beat the heat and develop your instrumental and vocal skills with timeless Lutheran music! K-12, beginner through advanced students welcome. All students will participate in an end-of-camp Vespers Service and Concert. Click Here for all the info and to register!
The Cupboard is Bare!
Emmaus Food Pantry is reporting a shortage of donations this summer. Demand is especially high for canned tuna, Tuna Helper and other similar boxed meals, and peanut butter and jelly. Please consider picking up a couple extra items on your next shopping trip and place in the grocery cart near the C8 door in the Commons. Thank you for your support!
Bake Sale Coming Soon
The Lutheran High School cheerleading squad will be hosting a bake sale at St. John the weekend of July 11-12 to support their upcoming season.
