Mark Zimmer's Retirement Celebration

After 41 years of service, Mr. Mark Zimmer is retiring.  Mark has taught for a total of 41 years with the last 25 years at St. John Lutheran.

Mark completed his undergrad degree at Concordia Chicago (River Forest), and earned his Masters at IU. Before serving at St. John, Mark also served at Wyneken Lutheran, Decatur, IN, and St. Paul’s Lutheran in Kankakee, IL. Throughout his career, Mark not only taught math but also served as youth director, athletic director, and coached football, wrestling, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and track.

Mark said, "St. John has meant so much to Ivonne and me, to our children and their spouses, and now our grandchildren. We thank God for bringing us to St. John. We thank Him for the friendly people here who help to make this a great place to call our church home and with whom we share His love.”

Mark plans to keep busy after retirement. He has plans to attend Bible Study, do more writing (including devotions), hunt, fish, do carpentry work, work on his son and daughter-in-law's farm, travel, spend time at their cottage in Canada, spend time in the woods with a chain saw and a tractor, and volunteer for various things at St. John Lutheran Church and School. Mark also looks forward to spending more time with his grandchildren and family in Indianapolis and Chicago.

Feel free to share your favorite memories, thanks, and congratulations for Mark in the comments section below.
