Mrs. Katie Fortier

Katie Fortier grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa where she graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She also holds a Master’s degree in Project Management from Keller Graduate School.  After graduating college, she moved to the suburbs of Chicago where she worked as a Field Engineer for GE doing air emission testing and then as a Plant Engineer for a GE Power Plant.

A promotion and job transfer for her husband, Jeremy, brought her to Indianapolis 12 years ago where she decided to pursue her new career path as a stay at home mom.  Always looking for new opportunities, Katie pursue her Group Fitness Instructor certification and began teaching a Strength and Endurance class at the Baxter YMCA 8 years ago, and has participants who range in age from 11 to 80 years old.  She has also become certified in Jillian Michael’s Body Shred, Les Mills Body Pump, Indoor Cycling, HIIT Yoga, Cycle 360, a running coach, Level 1 USAA Archery Instructor, and Small Craft/Canoeing instructor.

In her free time, she is a Girl Scout troop leader for her daughter’s troop here at St. John, a volunteer for her son’s Cub Scout pack, Recruitment Manager for Warren Girl Scout Service Unit, Outdoor Skills and Training Facilitator for Girl Scouts, and coach for the JV volleyball team at St. John.  She also volunteers her time as a volunteer and foster mom for Waldo’s Muttley Crew Animal Rescue.

When not busy with volunteering or teaching she enjoys camping, hiking, sewing, crafting and spending time with her family and 2 rescue dogs.

Katie is excited about teaching PE at St. John because she is looking forward to getting kids active and helping them to have fun while doing so.
