Shakespeare Study

The Shakespeare discussion group meets on Thursday mornings at 9:45 in the home of Rick and Shirley Reed (1982 Mann Drive, Beech Grove). We are starting Antony and Cleopatra and would welcome any participants who wish to join us in a no-pressure, rather fun exploration of the greatest poet in the English language.

In addition, if you would be interested in reading and discussing Dante's Divine Comedy, Rick would like to start another group to pursue what many regard as the most important poem in the history of Christianity, outside of the Psalms. No meeting day or time has yet been set.

Saints on Stage presents Almost, Maine

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that's so far north, it's almost not in the United States. It's almost in Canada, actually. And it's almost a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn't exist. One cold, clear midwinter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend, almost.

Join our Saints on Stage in this delightful midwinter night's dream, Almost, Maine taking place in the Ruth Lilly Auditorium at Lutheran High School on November 13, 15-16.

Tickets available at LHSI.org.

Veterans Day Luncheon

The Ladies’ Aid cordially invites all veterans and their guests to attend the annual Veterans Day Luncheon  and program honoring all veterans on Thursday, November 13 at 11:30am in the Commons. Invitations to known member veterans were mailed, or pick one up on the Welcome Center. Please RSVP to Matthew Frick.

Lutheran High School is also hosting a Veterans Day service on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:20am in the Ruth Lilly Auditorium, with reception following. RSVP HERE.

Surviving the Holidays

St. John’s GriefShare Ministry is offering a “Surviving the Holidays” session on Tuesday, November 11, from 6:00-8:00 pm in the school music room. This session offers practical help ahead of the holiday season for family members grieving the loss of a loved one. Enter through door C-9. Pre-register at griefshare.org. For more information, call the church office or contact Dianne Boekankamp. There is no charge for this session.

Food Pantry Collection

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season coming up, we would like to remind our community that we regularly collect non-perishable food items that are donated to the Emmaus Lutheran Church food pantry. Please consider purchasing a few additional items to contribute to our neighbors in need. You can leave them in the grocery cart near the C-8 door.

If you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity, or you would like to assist those who are, please contact Matthew Frick. Indy.gov also has emergency food assistance resources.

Fall Clean Up

The Trustees will hold a fall clean up work day on Saturday, November 22, from 9am to noon. Please lend a hand to clean up from fall and prepare for winter. All are welcome!

Little Wings Childcare needs help with leaves

As Fall has come and the leaves continue to drop, we would appreciate any assistance in cleaning up the playgrounds and yard.   The playground takes a good deal of time as the play equipment has to be moved around so leaves can be removed.  Due to the number of leaves around the childcare, we usually do 2-3 clean ups each Fall with the last one usually taking place in early December. If you would be willing to help with this clean up, please reach out to RJ Hall, Michael Collins, or Lori Forgey.
