Men’s Breakfast will meet Saturday, August 1, at 7:30 a.m. in the Commons. All men are invited to join us for breakfast and conversation.
Lunch and Learn
Lunch and Learn returns August 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Commons. Join us for rotisserie chicken and bring a side or dessert to share. We will learn something new and enjoy games for group entertainment. Now is a great time to join us!
Installation
The St. John community is invited to attend the installation of Pastor James Gramzow at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Fountain Square on Saturday, August 1, at 10:00 a.m. We give thanks to God for this new chapter of ministry for our friends at Emmaus as they gather in worship and celebration.
Bible Studies Resuming
Current Events and the Scriptures
Current Events and the Scriptures, led by Rick Kerr, meets Sundays at 9:30 a.m. in the school library. Discussion centers on the Christian response to recent news.
Women of the Word
Women of the Word, or WOW, invites all women to join this Monday morning small-group Bible study for fellowship and sharing of the Word. The group meets in the Commons at 9:30 a.m. every Monday that school is in session, beginning August 17. Please contact Ginny Link or Jayne Queck with questions.
Sunday School Begins August 23
Help shape the faith of the next generation! As we prepare for another exciting year of Sunday School, we are looking for a few more volunteers to join our teaching team. Additional volunteers will help keep the time commitment manageable while ensuring our children receive a fun, engaging, and Christ-centered learning experience.
Teachers typically serve in pairs, and all lessons, materials, and guidance are provided. Whether you have taught before or are considering it for the first time, this is a wonderful opportunity to share God’s Word and make a lasting impact in the lives of our children.

Confirmation
Enrollment is underway for catechesis instruction leading to Confirmation, beginning August 23. St. John members in grades 5–8 are eligible to enroll if they have not already been confirmed. The class will meet during Education Hour on Sundays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. and will be taught by Pastor Duling and Vicar Schroeder.
A more detailed letter will be sent to families soon. To make sure your family is on the list, please contact Pastor Duling.
Catechesis Retreat
St. John youth are invited to a retreat hosted by Concordia, Greenwood, on August 21–22. The retreat is open to students in grades 6–12 and will focus on the theme of Confession and Absolution. Current Confirmation students and students who have already been confirmed are invited to attend. Early registration is due August 5.

LCMS U
On behalf of the Indiana District LCMS, we are gathering information about college-bound students in our congregation so they can be connected with LCMS ministry near their schools. These connections can be a blessing to students as they navigate college life and its challenges.
If you know of a student attending college anywhere in the United States, please complete the Campus Ministry – LCMS U form. You may also email Matthew Frick with the student’s name and the university the student will attend this fall.
Mite Sunday
This weekend, and every first weekend of the month, we observe Mite Sunday as we gather gifts for God’s work around the world through Lutheran Women in Mission. Please bring loose change, cash, or checks and place them in the large mite box in the Commons. Small mite boxes for collecting change are also available in the Commons. A little can add up to a lot!
Gifts can also be made online. This month’s mission focus is Arch Books for Immigrant Children in the USA.
HVAC Update
Work on the HVAC replacement in the school is nearing completion. Almost all spaces are up and running, and work continues in the gym. The goal is to have all major work completed before the start of school. We now shift our focus to completing the funding for the project.

Building Hope
St. John has partnered with other churches and Lutheran Child and Family Services to make gift cards available to support families in times of need. This is a small but meaningful gesture to those who benefit.
Recently, we were able to bless a couple experiencing homelessness with gift cards for groceries and gas to help them make ends meet while they get back on their feet. Please consider donating to this fund so we can replenish our supply and be ready to help our neighbors in need. Donations of gift cards are also accepted, specifically for gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants.
