St. John Lutheran Women’s Softball League is starting up again!

UPDATE: June 7, 2017
We have also posted the softball schedule for summer 2017. Please note that the game scheduled for May 22 will be played on July 17 at 6:30 vs. Zion.

One of the many blessings of living together in community as the body of Christ at St. John Lutheran Church is the opportunity to join one another for worship, bible study, volunteering, and leisure!

Our women’s softball team, managed by Jean Landy, is a great way to enjoy moments of fellowship with other sisters in Christ every Monday night (schedule forthcoming), but don’t take my word for it!

Britney Zimmer, a team member, summed it up pretty well when asked about her involvement with the team: “I enjoy getting together with friends from church to play ball. It takes me back to my younger years! It is a great opportunity to get some exercise and build relationships outside of work!”

Not only is the team an opportunity to better connect with St. John members, but also members of other congregations in our area, both LCMS and other Christian denominations. The league encompasses many teams from Indy’s south side, and our St. John team includes members from other congregations, like Zion Lutheran in New Palestine. Nativity Catholic Church, just down the road from St. John, gives our team some of their stiffest competition.

Landy describes the team as an institution in her life and the lives of others. “I've played on our softball team for a long time and it's like family.  We've seen each other through good times and bad,” she said.

“I always know that no matter what's going on in my life, I can join my team on Monday nights and just play and forget about things for a few hours."

Games start Monday, May 22nd, at Zion United Church of Christ (8916 E. Troy Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46239) at 7 p.m. and will be every Monday after at 7 p.m.
