Virtual Mission Trip to Lativia

St. John Lutheran Takes Mission Trip to Latvia – Online

Indianapolis, Indiana, January 28, 2015

It’s a long ways from Indianapolis to Latvia to go on a mission trip – 4,700 miles to be exact. But students and adults at St. John Lutheran Church will be talking with Latvian students and adults on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in an online-mission trip offered by St. Louis-based Lutheran Hour Ministries.

This virtual trip will feature “live feeds” through which students can meet and interact directly with workers who live in Latvia. Everyone will learn about the economic and social challenges that people in the Latvia face each day. And, also about the holistic outreach of Lutheran Hour Ministries-Latvia.

During January, St. John Lutheran School chapel offerings have been designated to be sent to Latvia to help meet spiritual and physical needs through these holistic programs. “Our students and members are very excited to learn about Latvia and its people up-close as well as about the opportunity to help share the good news of Jesus in Latvia” says Paul Johnson, Director of Outreach and Assimilation at St. John Lutheran Church & School.  “We believe that by partnering with Lutheran Hour Ministries in this way, we can help make a difference for people who are struggling and looking for a source of hope in their lives.

This event is in conjunction with St. John’s celebration of National Lutheran Schools Week across the United States.  National Lutheran Schools Week provides nearly 2,300 Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod preschools, elementary schools and high schools with the public opportunity to proclaim and celebrate God’s work among us in Lutheran schools.

St. John Lutheran Church and School is located at 6630 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203. For more information about on-line mission to Latvia, and St. John Lutheran, visit www.stjohnindy.org.
