This month, we're grateful to welcome Pastor Jim Myers and his wife Connie to the St. John family. Pastor Jim Link was recently diagnosed with Stage III Esophageal Cancer and will be spending time focusing on his health and family.* Our Elders have invited Pastor Jim Myers to serve as our Vacancy Pastor.

About Pastor Jim Myers

Pastor Jim attended Concordia Lutheran Junior College, Ann Arbor, Michigan, served three years in the US Army - including a tour of duty in Vietnam - and later earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. His life has provided a wide range of ministry and career experiences including industrial sales and computer programming.

Pastor Jim’s heart was always drawn to the work of the church, even in the military, where he served as a Chaplain’s Assistant. As a layperson, he and Connie helped found Ascension Lutheran Church in Beech Grove where he served in a number of lay offices. They later transferred to Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianapolis where he was again involved in lay leadership roles. Pastor Jim was also active in helping start Lutheran High School of Indianapolis, serving on its first Board of Directors.

After entering seminary at the age of 45, Pastor Jim served as the first full-time worker at Living Christ Lutheran Church in Plainfield and was installed as their first pastor in 1999. In 2010, Jim returned to Calvary Lutheran Church as an Associate Pastor called to serve the church-at-large as an Intentional Interim Minister. In that role, he served churches in Memphis, TN; Odessa, TX; and Manassas, VA. Officially retiring in 2015, Jim has since served stints as Assistant to the Pastor at Calvary and as Vacancy Pastor at Trinity in Indianapolis.          

The Myers have been married for 46 years and have two children: daughter Mrs. Wendy (Robert) Wilson of Indianapolis; and son, Eric (Alexis) Myers, of Westfield. They have three grandchildren: Riley, a sophomore; Regan, a sixth-grader; and Rhianon, a fourth-grader.

Pastor Jim enjoys playing golf, doing crossword puzzles and reading novels. Connie enjoys designing silk floral arrangements, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. Together they enjoy spending time with family and occasional leisure travel. Please welcome the Myers as you have the opportunity!
