On Reformation Day, We Wear Red!
This weekend we are commemorating Reformation Day. Red is the traditional color of Reformation Day, symbolizing the Holy Spirit and the fire of faith that inspired Martin Luther and the Reformation. It’s a reminder of the bold witness of those who stood firmly on God’s Word and the truth that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Readings for the Twenty-Second Sunday After Pentecost
Reformation Day (Observed):
Revelation 14:6-7
Romans 3:19-28
John 8:31-36
Pastor Duling’s Sermon Theme:
“God is Our Strength”

Stewardship at St. John
John 8:36 – “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Today we celebrate Reformation Day! Luther is rightly remembered as a champion of the Gospel — but he also called himself “the apostle of good works.” For, only by being set free by the Gospel, can we do good works. Jesus has set us free: His blood covers our sins, and now we stand before God as His beloved children, invited to live our lives to His glory for the good of His kingdom.
Attendance Last Week:
Worship Services - 310
Giving:

Giving naturally varies from month to month. Following lower giving in September, October continues to be a strong month, helped by a few generous quarterly gifts. This is encouraging as we also continue to take responsible steps to balance the budget. For instance, last week’s voters’ meeting approved a minimal employee cost sharing initiative where St John employees will participate in sharing a small portion of the cost for healthcare premiums. We are grateful for the generosity of our congregation and its continued support of St. John’s ministry.
